Starting at 4:42 PM EST, we began to receive the same error from Project Apollo, reading "Error: Request failed with code 429". Basically saying that Apollo had tweeted too much and was rate limited. This was mid tornado outbreak, and our bots stated purpose is to provide information to those in threat of these storms. Thankfully, the bot has a small following, so nobody (hopefully) was relying on our information to survive. We later found out that Twitter devs had decided to go forward with limiting bots (**1**). A "feature" that the NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE took issue with (**2**). Thus we will be suspending the service of Project Apollo, until we can get a workaround or they go back on this. If they do not ever go back on it, this is the end.

Now does this mean the bot will stop tweeting? Maybe. It is still connected with IEMBot's api, so as long as they do not suspend service or lose the ability to tweet (head dev has said it will eventually kill all iembots (**1**)) it will continue to tweet. I will attempt to keep active on the account whenever there's a tornado or severe weather outbreak but i can not promise that i will be unbiased, that was the point of automation of the service.

Well it finally happened. On the 14th they began to rate limit ALL activities. Meaning all non IEMbot and dumb larpy tweets will stop (with IEMbot most likely stopping soon). WAPO has posted a good article on the situation

but unless Elon goes back on it this is the end. We will also stop maintaining the service. As it no longer serves it original purpose. Rip apollo and DNN. To fully clarify this is not the end of dunks_lab. Just the end of the Apollo Project. We have several things we do and this was just the most public one. Upon further thinking, we will be posting all Tornado/Flood Emergencies and PDS tor warnings. As i do not believe these will be happening enough to get us ratelimited (i hope). Which also means that we will continue to maintain it. Hopefully this is good enough and doesnt hurt us in the long run.

well it would appear that elon will allow the nws to continue to tweet with no limit, thank god.

As of today, we have revoked IEMBots access to Apollo. We will consider adding it back at a later date but we do not believe it to be necessary at this point. Furthermore only the aforementioned warnings/watches will be posted. We believe the spam on the account has gotten to be too much thus are trying to limit it and believe elon has pushed us into the pool, so to speak.
